Day 11, Tuba City, Az to Williams Az.

So we did it! After a great breaky of Pancakes, we hit it again. Didn't take to long and we entered the Grand Canyon National Park after parting with $12 bucks each.

There were great views of the canyon, we rode along the South rim to the Village, stopping along the way.

There's no way you could get this close to the edge in Australia, there would be a 2m high fence and warning signs every where.

We left the Canyon and headed towards Flagstaff, still in Arizona. It was an 80 mile run, via an almost brand new pristine road. We started at an elevation of about 9000 ft, and dropped to 6000 ft, along the way we had probably the best ride of the trip. We were taken from the high desert through to Alpine forests along the way down, all the while riding through roads with long wide open sweeping bends that could be taken at 100mph (80 would have to do). It was fantastic, the fun was short lived tough as the lower we descended, the higher the wind speed.

We bought the best chilli cheese dogs here in Flagstaff at a drive thru (we parked).

This is home sweet home for the next TWO nights, yes folks two nights! We are at and old classic Motel in the centre of Williams, Az. There's a Rodeo in town, so we are staying to check it out tommorrow.

More on that later, check it  out, till then keep well. Were off to Dinner, and a big sleep in.

Cheers, Dave & Mick

  1. Hi Guys as you know we're finally here! Don't worry about the winds you got on the bike we hit turbulence for about 2 hours on the way over & then bounced our way into Vegas from LA.You're so close now we're really excited....but thanks hon for realising I need serious shopping time. For Stacey's kids she forgot to activate her global roaming for her phone and so doesn't have one. I've got mine or you can call the Aria if it's urgent. I'm looking out the window of the hotel and all the lights are coming on down the strip...such an awesome sight! Take care everyone Michelle xxoo

  2. Sounds like a magic ride for you - I don't want to even think about taking bends that fast - the ride from our place to Pambula was fast enough for me!
The views of the canyon look fabulous - no signs and no safety fence to spoil it!!!!!The motel looks quite olde worlde. Enjoy the rodeo!
