Day 3. Juliet to Carlinville

After checking the local radar online, we felt it was time to go as there was a temporary break in the weather. With our wet weather gear on we headed South, the wet weather gear held up well, after a breif run on the Interstate Freeway and a turn to Route 66 pretty soon we saw the dude below.

The Gemini Man, Wilmington, IL

Old Servo & Museum on Route 66

Pontiac IL
We stopped at Pontiac IL by chance, glad we did as it was tops. We met the local tourist director at "how sweet it is"  for the town while having lunch, she pointed us towards the Route 66 museum above, which is full of stuff you could look at for hours.

How Sweet it is
Had a great lunch here, though it seems the locals can't understand us, it seems we speak some foreign language.

Another old servo
So today we ended up at Carlinville, Illinois.  After a late start getting 200 miles under our belt is good. Todays riding was actually pretty good, the wet weather gear didn't stay on long, temperature back to around 33 C. Roads were generally good, except the last 20 miles which were rough as guts.

Were currently writing this at the bar of the motel we are at, which is in the middle of no where at an Interstate freeway off ramp, enjoying buffalow wings and beer (pizza to follow).

By the way we have now enabled comments to the blog
